Ryan McKenna Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning
Ryan McKenna serves as our Senior Vice President and Head of Strategic Planning. Mr. McKenna led the formation and capital raising of Blackbird Capital I and the successive Blackbird Capital II, a private equity platform with a blind pool of capital that acquires and manages aircraft alongside Air Lease Corporation, and serves on both funds’ Boards. Additionally, Mr. McKenna led the formation of Thunderbolt Aircraft Lease, a platform which facilitates the sale and continued management of midlife assets from Air Lease to third party investors. The successive Thunderbolt Aircraft Lease II introduced the first equity structure for an aircraft Asset Backed Securities offering featuring tradable shares that was broadly distributed to investors in a private placement. His responsibilities included raising the equity along with the structuring and issuance of the asset backed securities that provided long term funding for both Blackbird and Thunderbolt. He has been integral in the company's capital raising activities including capital markets issuances, building the global banking group, structuring bank debt and warehouse facilities, and engaging with the credit rating agencies. Mr. McKenna led investor relations with equity and debt holders as well as relations with the research analysts that cover the company for the first six years of being publicly listed on the NYSE. Prior to joining us, Mr. McKenna spent four years in the Corporate Operations Planning and Analysis group at The Walt Disney Company, where his responsibilities included five year strategic planning and valuation, capital planning, forecasting, and trading analysis. Mr. McKenna received a Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science degree from The London School of Economics and Political Science, a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School, a Master of Business Administration from London Business School, and is an FAA rated pilot.
